We're a husband and wife team, technical professional and graphic designer, creating practical, cost-effective websites for small to medium-sized businesses and non-profits. For the past 25 years we have each separately worked with hundreds of businesses, integrating technology and providing quality graphic design services. In 2005 we started Site Sanctuary to combine our talents and focus on website integration and design services. What's practical? We believe that many businesses (not all) can benefit from assembling and integrating website components from existing solutions rather than reinventing the wheel. We often describe this as "making an existing house your own, rather than building a new one from scratch". You benefit by drastically reducing the time required to build your site, leveraging work that has already been done, broadening your long-term support network, and achieving greater functionality for less cost.

What do you sacrifice? Often nothing but, there are occassional compromises in functionality and your website design will not be 100% unique in the world. Is this a problem? Many businesses can't afford to spend a significant portion of their budget on design alone. Most find altering existing designs to suit their needs a very workable solution. Achieving your exact web application functionality requirements with custom programming can also be very expensive, time consuming, and a potential support problem down the road. Working with existing solutions most of the time offers greater functionality, upgrade paths, and better long term support.

Is this approach for everyone? No. Some businesses require absolutely unique designs as part of their brand identity and very specific application functionality that may not be achievable with off-the-shelf solutions.
